Club Rules
The club rules are intended for the well being of all members and associates and the club as a whole. Please note that they may be subject to updates and amendments at any given time, any alterations will be highlighted in the "News" section of the club home page.
Digs.
- All members are required to attend no less than eight club digs per year. Failure to do so will lose the member the right to automatic renewal of club membership.
- All club members and guests must have the appropriate insurance to attend club digs, please have it with you.
- Three Spires Search Society supports the Code of Practice for Responsible Metal Detecting in England and Wales as endorsed by The National Farmers Union, English Heritage, ,FID etc.
- Do not trespass, the area for the dig, as agreed with the landowner, will be clearly announced at the start of the day. Do not stray from the allowed area or detect on the land at any other times. If in doubt ask.
- Respect the Country Code, leave all gates as you find them, do not damage crops or frighten animals.
- Do not detect on borders around fields that are left fallow under the Stewardship Scheme.
- Fill and level all holes dug to a good standard regardless of the field's condition.
- Under no circumstances are unwanted finds to be reburied in the hole.
- Finds pouches are compulsory for all club digs facilitating removal of finds from the site.
- A scrap box is provided for unwanted finds only.
- Do not leave any litter on the site.
Meetings.
- Club meetings are held on the first Tuesday in the month, every month. Members are invited to attend no less than four times per year. Any member failing to attend a minimum of three meetings will lose their right to automatic renewal of club membership.
- Meetings are required to start at 7.30pm prompt in order to complete the agenda, announcements, finds competition etc.
Guests.
- Members are entitled to bring along guests only with prior notification and agreement.
- A small premium to standard site fees is payable by the guest and the number of guests allowed is limited.
- Club members please note that you are wholly responsible for the conduct of your guest, you must familiarise them with the club rules and supervise them throughout the dig.
Hoards.
- If at any time a member or guest feels that they have discovered a hoard they must inform a committee member immediately. The situation will be assessed, if needed the dig will be temporarily halted.
- In the case of a scattered hoard being found please act responsibly and respect your fellow members’ space. As a rough guide please allow at least seven metres distance between yourself and the next searcher.
By following these simple rules we should all enjoy great detecting together for years to come. If anyone fails to adhere to any of the rules their membership can be suspended or revoked without prior warning.
